DAY 1: Arrival at Kumbali Country Lodge

 

Upon your arrival at the airport, our team will personally welcome you and facilitate your transfer to Kumbali Country Lodge. Nestled just a 10-minute drive from the heart of Lilongwe, this hidden gem is situated on a 650-hectare forest reserve and dairy farm. The lodge boasts a picturesque garden with an outdoor pool. Your spacious, thatched room, featuring a private entrance, awaits you for a tranquil retreat.

 

DAY 2: Journey to Chongoni Rock Art UNESCO Site

 

Around 10:30 a.m., we will embark on a fascinating journey to the Chongoni Rock Art UNESCO Site, located in Dedza district. This UNESCO-listed area, situated in the Central Region of Malawi, encompasses 127 sites nestled in the forested hills of the Malawi plateau. Discover depictions of rock art and paintings dating back to the Late Stone Age and the Iron Age period, offering a captivating glimpse into the cultural history of the farmer community. The ancient allure of this site continues to resonate today.

 

DAY 3: Majete Game Reserve Adventure

 

Today, we will drive you to Majete Game Reserve, an incredible conservation success story that has transformed over the past decade. Just ten years ago, it lacked wildlife, but now it proudly stands as Malawi’s only Big Five park, thriving with diverse animal populations and abundant birdlife.

Highlights:

  • Off-the-Beaten-Track Exploration: Majete Game Reserve is a true off-the-beaten-track gem, offering a completely unspoiled wilderness experience. Revel in the sense of total serenity, far away from the typical tourist crowds.

Local Community Interaction: Experience the "warm heart of Africa" by engaging with local communities. Learn about their traditional lifestyle, from sampling traditional foods to enjoying local dances, fostering a deeper connection with the cultural richness of the region.

Night at Majete Community Camping Site: Later in the day, you'll spend the night at Majete Community Camping Site. Owned and operated by the local communities surrounding Majete, this campsite is nestled in the wilderness of the reserve. It can accommodate up to 20 guests, allowing campers to choose between pitching their tents under two thatched shelters or camping under the stars. Tents, mattresses, pillows, and sheets are available for hire.

Facilities at the Campsite: The campsite is well-equipped with a cash bar, dining space, barbecue area, toilets, and hot showers. It also relies on solar power. Guests have the option to dine at the Mwembezi Restaurant at the Day Centre. Please note that arrangements for dinner should be made prior to arrival.

DAY 4: Majete Game Reserve - Wildlife Game Drive

On this day, we will embark on a scenic drive of Blantyre City. Situated in the Shire Highlands of southern Malawi, Blantyre is a captivating city adjoining the town of Limbe, celebrated for its British colonial architecture and proximity to parks and reserves.

  • Charming Cityscape: Explore the unique charm of Blantyre, with its British colonial influence evident in the architecture and atmosphere. Stroll through the city's streets and absorb the blend of history and modernity.

    Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be provided within 14 days of booking, excluding credit card processing fees. Cancellations made after this period will be subject to a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 7 days preceding the scheduled tour.
